The Big Internet Marketing LIE.. What Is It?
I appreciate that there may be a few people Hacked off with me for writing this article. However I don’t write copy to please EVERYONE.. I write to help people see more clearly in this WONDERFUL online Money Making Junkyard of ours..
SO, what would you do tomorrow, if you woke up, turned your computer on and found that your entire business had been HIJACKED?
No, I’m not talking about some deadly VIRUS wiping out your hard drive… I’m talking about relying on marketing strategies that are sometimes masquerading as an actual business model…
In fact, I’m talking about:
1. Facebook Advertising
2. Adsense blog/websites
3. Twitter Marketing
4. Google PPC
5. Google SEO ranking
6. CPA (cost-per-action)
7. Youtube Marketing
You see, the big Internet Marketing LIE is, – that if you somehow get involved in the NEXT Big launch, the NEXT big hyped up Facebook product, the NEXT big Google Amazing APP….. you are somehow BUILDING your Internet Marketing Business, and moving it forward…. but ARE YOU?
Let’s rewind for a second here..
Surely, the most reliable & long term profitable Internet Marketing business model would be:
1) Build A Massive List
2) Build A Membership Site
3) Make your own products and get an army of Affiliates to sell them
NO?
I wonder, how many people are actually moving towards achieving this…
What would happen if Facebook closed your account tomorrow?, what would happen if Google changed their Algorithm thingies and your websites, BIT the DUST… what would happen if Youtube just plain old didn’t like you any more and DELETED your account?… Can you see where I’m going with this?
I think we can all become VICTIMS of the great Internet Marketing HYPE A Market… Relying on BS – Business Strategies which are really Marketing Gimmicks
Every few days, a NEW super Wonder Traffic strategy is BORN… “This will absolutely 100% Change your life FOREVER” – Like HELL it Will!
Instead of us thinking that these traffic strategies are OUR business, we should be concentrating on actually building the STRUCTURES of our business, and NOT relying on Google, Facebook, Twitter or the LATEST Wonder Launches.. etc etc to BE OUR Business..
These are just things that may or may NOT help to drive Traffic… they are not our ACTUAL business..
By building a massive list, you are building a STRONG long term business, you will have people to market to, no matter what happens to Facebook & Co.. by building a membership site you will be building a strong monthly income for today, tomorrow & the future… By penning your own information products and using an army of affiliates to market them for you… THEY are doing all the Facebook, Twitter, Google, strategies for YOU!…
Sure, we all love the Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Google thingies… but these are just means to an end. If they disappear into the night one day, on the COAT TAILS of the latest Wonder Launch… it shouldn’t be the END of YOU & your business!

As a long-term web developer, I have seen just about every imaginable business model on the internet and just about every kind of get-rich-quick scheme as well.
I believe there are a great many helpful products, services and coaching available out there, the vast majority are of the smoke and mirrors variety, unfortunately.
Successful long-term businesses are generally well planned and not built on claims that “anyone” can do it. This should be evidenced by the higher than normal failure rate of online businesses.
Now I’m not saying that these programs are not necessarily worthwhile but I will say that without the know-how that’s required of an online business or some form of coaching you are relegated to learn by failure; an expensive method indeed. Fortunately, there are some terrific, low cost coaches out there that are genuine and sincere (Chris Farrel being one of them).
Sadly, many of the top “gurus” (a term I passionately loathe) are responsible for many of the black hat methods used today that make it increasingly difficult for many startup businesses, due to abuse of search engine tactics among many other marketing methods used.
We do live in a society though that does not understand the concept of long-range planning and the order of the day is to not spend much or do anything but push a button and get rich. As it was once said; “A fool and his money are soon to part”. That, I know is all part of the education for most.

I have to disagree with your comment on taking up the next “NEW super Wonder Traffic strategy” Keith. It WILL change your life forever.
You will never get the time back that you wasted reading and watching this new strategy and you will be another $37, $47, $97, $127 or $1,997 further away from achieving financial success!
But what is the answer? How do newbies know that it is all hype and BS? I’m sure we have all been there and got so excited at the thought of “push button” riches and the marketer pushing this gives such convincing proof with their slick marketing.
Unfortunately you can’t put wise heads on newbies shoulders.

thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate it when you take the time to put your viewpoint across.
I knew when I started writing this article, that it would ruffle a few feathers. But, I think oyu know me quite well by now and I’m not one to say things just for the sake of it..
Quite frankly, it used to happen when I was in the Mail Order Business. Some people’s entire business strategy (for want of a better word) was to buy books & courses.. Period.
We even had a term for it – it was called the Business Opportunity Syndrome, it was where you just keep buying Books, Courses and Business Opps, maybe not completing any of them properly and then tucking them away somewhere, never ot be seen again. I’ve been very guilty of doing this myself.
In my view, the best way to learn something is to DO it? and learn as you GO.. you heard chris admit that no one taught him a thing, he taught himself – Buying all this stuff each week is not going to get it done… YOU are going to get it done.
You may not be able to put wise heads on newbies (boy, I hate that term), but you can INFORM them, yes you do need some form of Instruction, I pay Chis his $37 a month, but it’s a bit like painting by numbers, YOU dont neccessarily learn MORE… just because you spent $5000 on NEW wonder products… You learn more because you go where the information is freely given on the Internet, Jo Barnes, Chris Farrell etc… and YOU Do It!
Don’t get me wrong, I do buy products, but I buy as I go, make some money – spend some money etc..
