How a Cheap Trick Nets 2 Brothers an – eBay Fortune…
Catchy Headline eh?….
This really is a CHEAP TRICK, not too many people know about this and it is very easy to get started..
OK, then let’s get started -here is a tip very close to my heart and also very close to my home town - Two brothers from Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire are really cleaning up on eBay selling…. wait for it – Other peoples STUFF!
Now, these two guys are working purely from home. - they place small Classified ads in the local newspapers and even though they have only been trading for less than a year, they are already making in excess of $800 a week. This really is a relatively low risk, low start up - home based business.
Now, I have heard of other people doing this before, but not locally to me.
Here are the basics.
Make your business name, something with a LOCAL feel to it as most, if not all of your people who want you to sell their stuff will be local to you. You could call your self something catchy like – eBay Traders Hertfordshire or We Sell on eBay – please be careful to NOT imply that you are connected in any way to eBay themselves. (for obvious reasons).
You can then create some simple, but catchy Classified ads for your local paper, or create Flyers – You could put your mobile number on them , but your home number would be better ( make sure you have an answerphone)
Get a toll free number later when the profits start rolling in.
Now, you will need to create an agreement that will allow the seller of the item/s to grant permission for you to, store, photograph and sell the item/s on eBay – you will also need to outline your commission structure (after eBay fees are taken in to consideration).
High priced items would be best – as your business builds, you are looking to sell several high priced items per day to earn as many “big chunk” commissions as possible.
People have “STUFF” all over the place which they could be turning into HARD CASH.. but a lot of people cannot be BOTHERED to do it for themselves, and many people just do not want to get involved selling things themselves, on or off eBay..
This is where your business has the EDGE, because you do all the picking up of the items – car, van (or bus) required. You photograph the item, you write the sales text for your eBay listing, you list it and when it sells, you pocket your commission (30%+) and pay the owner of the item the rest…
The owner is happy, they didn’t have to do a thing except hand over the item to you.
If the item doesn’t sell first time, re-list it again, often or not, you can get a free re-listing credit if it doesn’t sell first time (check for terms & conditions) - as you get more and more experienced in doing this, you will learn which items are best to sell on eBay and which one’s to avoid..
Now in some cases, the owners of items will not let you take them away, their are several reasons for this
1) The item may be too valuable to let out of their site (precious stones, gold, etc)
2) The item is too bulky – or difficult to move (and store) – caravans, cars, sheds, boats etc… you get my drift.
3) This may be the person’s first dealing with you and may not fully trust you yet.
All of the above are OK, you simply photograph the item/s wherever they are, get the owner to sign the sales agreement and then !Go list the item…
Obviously, you wont be posting these large items, the buyers can collect the item from the owner’s address (you are negotiating the sale so you are the only person they will be dealing with .)
It’s a bit like being an estate agent (realtor) you don’t actually own the house, but you sell it. Instead of property, you are dealing in items. As time goes on and you become better at doing this, you can specialise. i.e if you have a lot of owners in your locality that own small boats, and you find you are selling a few… make a big point of it and specialise in Boats, Jet Ski’s, Canoes etc….
You could even put up your own website to display these items and keep all the commission (no eBay fees) on any sales you make.
This opportunity is limitless, the only boundaries are your OWN imagination…
I hope you have enjoyed today’s money making tip – why not submit one of your own ?
If we can publish it, your tip can be linked back to your Website, Blog, Video or anywhere else – contact me for details
Have a great day
I will be back tomorrow
