How Getting Started Is The Key To Your New Life – Not Being Great
Mar 28th
By Keith Everett
Here is my take on why some people perhaps don’t get the recognition they deserve and why other people with over inflated EGO’s and their head stuck up in peculiar places seem to shine & dominate..
In short, it’s been a whole six days since I had personally written anything for Keith’s Money Making Tips, and I felt it was time to air my views upon my long suffering readers. yet again!. LOL!..
Here are some observations, I have noted about Successful & Unsuccessful people:
1) Successful people are not necessarily the best at what they do, they just have an uncanny “knack” of convincing people they are.
2) Unsuccessful people may be the best at what they do, but have an uncanny “knack” of being poor at marketing their talent – so no one ever gets to see how great they could have been.
3) Successful people tend to be “driven”. They focus on the “end” result and are not swayed by the temptation to take too many different paths.
4) Unsuccessful people tend to be “all at sea” a lot of the time, they lack focus – and although they could be just as successful as anyone else, they refuse to change their mindset and blame “other things” or other “people” for their problems. Even if the problems are of their own making in the first place.
5) Successful people always tend to look at “positive” angles, even when their own life is currently not looking so great.
6) Unsuccessful people tend to focus on negative things, even when things are looking up for them – they seem hell bent on self sabotage, and attract more negativity into their lives by focusing on problems, instead of the solutions. They tend to “hang” with other like minded “merchants of doom”
7) Successful people realise it’s a marathon, not a sprint and building success takes time
8) Unsuccessful people tend to buy into the “Business Opportunity Syndrome” and are looking for instant gratification as found in the infamous “business in a box” type strategies and instant wealth CLAPTRAP.
9) Successful businesses have solid legs, they are sustainable, plan for future growth and are built with the end in mind
10) Unsuccessful businesses refuse to embrace new change, new technology and once the business has been “thrown up”, it is left to it’s own devices, with the owner or owners spending as much of the profits (if any) as possible.
In short, you don’t have to be the BEST to be GREAT, what you need to do in my opinion is to be EVERYWHERE!. If no one knows about you, they won’t know what you do, they can’t get to like you, if they can’t get to like you – they won’t trust you or buy from you.
Getting started seems to be the No1 stepping stone online. A lot of people people wait until they make the perfect video, the perfect eBook, the perfect website and the perfect sales page.. In essence, most of the products out there are far from perfect, but they sell.
Do you know why?
Because someone, somewhere got off their A** and made it happen.. and didn’t wait to be GREAT!
Oh Well, that’s my RANT! for the day.. ;-)

Oi You – Are You a GURU?

Oi You – Are You A GURU?
By Keith Everett…
I decided to write this brief article after listening to some comments over the last few weeks, about so called Guru’s.
It seems all the rage these days to BASH Guru’s… as we are bombarded with headlines like “The Killer Traffic Secrets, The Guru’s Don’t Want You To Know” etc, etc (who are these Guru’s that DON’T want you to know all these things?) – and more recently on Facebook where the term “Guru” was being used to comment on a well known Internet Marketer apparently becoming “more Guru like in the last couple of weeks”…. INSULT or PRAISE???
YOU Decide…
So exactly who (or what) is a Guru, how did they get this badge of honour (or shame) and does it all really matter?
Here are some web definitions of the word Guru.
1) A recognized leader in some field, or of some movement
2) A Hindu or Buddhist religious leader and spiritual teacher
The Guru – Chori Chori
There are other definitions but these are the two main ones - The word originates in sanskrit and is formed by the syllables gu and ru. Gu indicates darkness, and ru indicates destruction. Thus, when translated directly, guru means ‘dispeller of darkness.
OK, so for those of us in Business, Online or Offline, it would pretty much be 1) a recognized leader in some field, or of some movement.
So, how do you get to be a Guru in the first place and what are the implications of becoming a Guru (apart from being hated for being one).?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this… here are mine.
It seems people become Guru’s by being successful in their chosen field. They then have a large following of people, students etc who look to them for guidance & continuous tuition, growth, realisation etc..
By now, the Guru’s following is so large, he/she now has to automate the very things that endeared him/her to their audience in the beginning, hence undoing some of the great work they did in the first place to get this great following.
Let’s take this a step further. Most of us know about social branding, we create these recognisable images of ourselves to create a following. We network through social networks to gain friends & contacts. We want to be considered a “brand” to be trusted and we produce excellent services and products to meet the expectation of the “brand”..
We then become SUCCESSFUL!!! (this can mean different things to different people)… our following is growing DAILY by hundreds, if not thousands..
We are so EXPERT!!… even the Experts, call on us and want to PARTNER up with us… We are fast becoming a LEGEND… a GURU of ALMIGHTY proportions.
Then what happens?
AUTOMATION….. that’s what happens…
Being someone with so many followers, it gets to be virtually IMPOSSIBLE to sustain personal contact with so many people and you all get automated… gone are the email replies, the personal replies on Facebook etc.. it all gets automated to customer services, and customer service assistants.
Hence, the slippery slope to Guruism (is that a word?)
I think one of the negative sides to our culture in the WEST is to build people up into heroes and then BASH them back down to earth when they are seemingly successful.
It seems you are allowed to get SO FAR in life, but if you are seen to be going beyond that point – you are then seen to be breaking some unwritten law, hence you shall be KNOCKED off your perch and PUNISHED..
I think, once a person of the PEOPLE, starts to become, in their eyes – a GURU – this is how or why I think RESENTMENT starts to set in.
So what can we do about it?
From a Guru’s point of view:
1) Don’t forget the very people who put you up there. You got where you are through personal contact, not customer services
2) People are the life blood of any business, shake a few hands every now and then and take two minutes out of your day to thank someone on your list personally for sticking with you.
3) Give your personal assistants & customers service reps a day off and get back to re-connecting with your customers every now and again
From a Customer/Student’s point of view
1) Don’t take it personally, most Guru’s are not really Guru’s at all, they are just busy people who are victims of their own Success, most of their time is spent creating great products and services to bring you.
2) Enjoy what you have learnt from these people and move on if necessary, tell them what you like by all means but DO tell them what’s NOT working for you, if they don’t know what’s wrong, they can’t fix it.. and if they know, but don’t fix it – move on..
Personally, I don’t really think Guru’s exist apart from in people’s minds.. Sure if you bump someone up enough and keep telling them how fabulous they are all the time, some might just start acting like ROCK STARS and believe they are some sort of SUPER GOD! but WE put them there in the first place so surely, if they behave that badly, why not just STOP buying their stuff!
Isn’t a Guru just someone we love to follow because they teach us GREAT things ?
Guru’s – people we give great power to, just so we can BASH them every now and again! lol

When Did You Last Take the Time to Learn a New Skill?

When Did You Last Take the Time to Learn a New Skill?
By Julie Atkins
I received an email today from one of the very few lists I subscribe to, which talked about the skills we acquire to move our online business forward and it got me thinking. So ….. when was the last time YOU took the time to learn a new skill?
Since beginning my online journey over a year ago, I’ve learnt so many things, it makes my head spin when I think about it! From creating my very first webpage from scratch, to learning about html, autoresponders, WordPress, video marketing, Facebook, Twitter, Camtasia … the list is endless but looking back now, I often give myself a small pat on the back. Why? Well, not for any narcissistic reason but because it’s a well-known fact that the majority of people who start out online never get past the first hurdles, they just give up and I’ve proved it can be done ….
Two points were highlighted on this email, two things which should come as natural each day as breathing:
1. Do something to build your business
2. Learn a new skill
As someone who tries hard to follow this mantra, I know how important it is to achieve this each and every day. The “doing something to build your business” might be implementing some new strategies, it might be some work to an ongoing project or it could encompass lots of small tasks which make up the running of your online business.
Learning a new skill every day might sometimes feel too huge a task, but look at each day as a new learning curve and see where it takes you. I also know how difficult it can be sometimes – life gets in the way andyour well-laid plans can fall apart so easily. If they do, don’t panic, don’t beat yourself up about it, simply decide to get onto it at the very next available opportunity. We’re human and things don’t always go to plan!
As well as these daily tasks, why not also pick something which you’ve been hankering to learn for a while and then get stuck into it? Master it, don’t just dabble your feet at the edges – dive right in!
The sense of achievement you’ll feel when you’re able to implement what you’ve learnt into your online business is priceless.

Are Your Habits Killing You? – 9 Ways To Get Motivated & Take Back Control
Jan 7th
Are your habits killing you – do you suffer from lack of motivation?
By Keith Everett
There is a lot of advice going around on various ways to get motivated for 2011, some good, some bad. I’m no expert on personal development and I don’t possess any certificates to say that I am, however – I have been around the block a few times and have made all the classic mistakes.
If you are entering the Internet Marketing business and you have problems getting started online through lack of motivation, then this could be for you. Or even if you aren’t a newbie, you could still be suffering from NEVER START disease.
What is this disease?, it’s the disease of doing lots of STUFF but never getting anywhere, motion, movement – whatever you want to call it only creates results if focused properly, otherwise you are just creating NOISE…
Apart from burning your bed or chaining yourself to your computer, here are some sensible ways to get out of the starting blocks and get motivated in 2011. As the doomy gloomy weather continues in many places around the world, it’s not only people’s noses and throats that are getting bunged up with cold (me included)
People’s brains are starting to wither and their motivation can start to WILT.. Here is a list of 9 tips I hope will help to get you some mental VIAGRA to your brain..
Step 1) Fix firmly in your mind, what exactly is your overall goal for 2011, commit this to paper and list the Monthly, Weekly & Daily steps you intend
to take to achieve this goal.
Step 2) Each night before you go to bed, make a list of everything you intend to achieve the next day and write it down on a pad
Allot a specific time limit to each task, finish the task in the time allotted and you must complete the task in one sitting, .ie no breaks or other distractions. This will start to create HABIT…with positive habits, you will begin to get more done everyday!
Always ask yourself, is what I’m doing REALLY moving me forward toward my ultimate 2011 goal, if not – don’t do it. Too many people spend a large part of the day “FUMBLING”.. i.e moving sheets of paper around, answering email and facebooking for fun…
OK, I admit I love facebooking for FUN but I do a little, then move on, and so on.
Step 3) Each day, keep a log of your progress that day and comment on how this day has influenced your progress in achieving your main 2011 Goal, commit this information into a diary with days and hours listed, review this diary daily..
Step 4) Remind yourself daily (every hour) what it is you will have achieved by December the 31st 2011, keep reminding yourself by placing pictures of your ultimate 2011 Goal in places people tend to spend rest time, i.e Bathroom, Bedroom & Lounge.. and always keep a reminder above your desk…
Step 5) Form an alliance of 3/4 people who have similar goals to you, either on Skype or Facebook with the intentions that each member should daily be checking up on each others progress within the group, even if it is just a text message as a “prompt”
Step 6) If you are more productive in the morning, why not get up an hour earlier each day before you go to work and spend an hour working on your goal. If you must, go to bed an hour later the night before to compensate.
Step 7) Take everything out of your daily routine that is NOT helping you toward your ultimate goal. i.e overeating, excessive TV watching, excessive spending… SEX… LOL! who put that in there?
Step 8) Form NEW Habits… if your daily routine is NOT making you RICHER, HAPPIER, HEALTHIER etc… change your existing habits and REPLACE them with NEW habits.. I can honestly say, my daily food routine was PIZZA, Pies, Sausages and other Crap, I have since replaced with new fresh fruits, nuts & grains. Not only do I enjoy my meals more but I feel more ALIVE, and I have more energy & motivation… are your habits KILLING you? Are you going to get to the end of 2011 to achieve your Goal.
Step 9) OK, here is my last tip to get motivated in 2011 and it for me is the biggest.. UNCLUTTER your life, one
of the reasons people get confused, de-motivated and almost give up is because they feel they
have to learn everything at once… especially in Internet Marketing
This can result in becoming overwhelmed & disillusioned. Believe me I have been there. Focus on one thing at a time. You don’t have to learn everything at once, if you try you will be treading the path to FAILURE..
Learn one thing at a time, declutter your life, your desktop, your computer, your brain, start to see the wood form the trees, focus on one thing at a time, once you have mastered that, start something else that’s relative.
Just one final thought – do things that make your palms sweat and give you stomach cramps now and again, being “safe” and secure is nice and “warm” but rarely gets you to where you want to go or to what you want to achieve… If things aren’t working for you, change them – even if they seem scary now, the chances are they will not be scary at all once you have done them..
There you go, That is my little list of things to hopefully get you off the uncluttered road, onto a clear pathway, with every step adding a notch on your bedpost toward your ultimate 2011 Goal I have a lot of MIND Boggling lol! information to come both here on Keith’s Money Making Tips and my new project (opening soon) Ask The Tipster
Have an ASTOUNDING 2011.. I’m up for it, whose with me?

10 Top Tips To Make Money Blogging
Apr 6th

In every bloggers life comes a special day – the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else’s blog, the chances are your blog may have launched with only one very loyal reader – you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that’s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.
Here are the top 10 techniques, new bloggers can use to find readers.
These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.
It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called “traction”, which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good), that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.
Top 10 Tips
10. Write at least five major “pillar” articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn’t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.
9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.
You don’t have to produce one post per day all the time, but it is important you do this when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming, but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few posts per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.
8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging – be serious about what you call your blog.
In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need a memorable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that’s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you’ve done a good job!).
7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people’s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.
Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.
6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger’s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry – it’s sort of like your blog telling someone else’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.
This is a good technique because like leaving comments, a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important – it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.
5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show that their are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then that infers that your content must be good since you have many loyal readers. So they will stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.
4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.
To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.
3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it’s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it’s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!
2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn’t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it’s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have – your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can re publish your article on their website or in their newsletter.
How you benefit is through what is called your “Resource Box”. You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.
1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I’ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won’t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.
