Launching A Product Begins And Ends With Copywriting
Apr 24th
By Guest Blogger – Professional Copywriter Stephen Dean
Word around the campfire is that sales copy isn’t that important during a mega product launch, because most people who hit the sales page skip the sales letter and just buy.
Wrong! And on two points.
First, as a copywriter that’s worked on many launches I can tell you all involved are hammering away at the copy until the 12th hour tolls.
When Michel Fortin wrote John Reese’s sales copy for the original Traffic Secrets – the first launch to reach $1,000,000 in 24 hours – Michel stayed up all night to rewrite the copy with John at the last minute.
Michel Fortin and John Reese knew the copy mattered.
And second, marketers use copy in more locations than just the sales letter.
A copywriter summons their titan selling skills for pre-launch pages, affiliate pages, blog posts, videos and plenty of emails to get the anticipatory launch drum pounding.
But even if you understood that each phase of a product launch is soaked in copywriting, you may not have known this. Copywriters often come up with the ideas for the best products.
How can this be? Are copywriters just insanely creative?
Well… maybe. But the real reason is, copywriters study the market to such a degree that they know exactly what the market wants to buy.
The copywriter knows what features the customer wants, the benefits, how fast they want it, how simple they want it… heck, they even know the colour they want.
So when a business owner wants to break new records with their product launch – and top it all off with a champagne celebration post launch – it’s a good idea to get the copywriter involved at the very, very beginning. And that means when you’re creating the product.
A few years back I brainstormed the domain name (and wrote the copy) for what became a very popular product. So popular, that just last year I received a check from the corporation named after the domain name!
So I highly recommend getting the copywriter involved early. You may have to pay a bit extra for the consulting… but it could be the best brainstorming partner you’ll ever have.
It’s a small price to pay for a vastly superior product and launch.
When I brainstorm with clients, I use something called the “Sniper Method” to help guarantee a successful launch. You can discover what it’s all about in this video…
Many copywriters skip these steps. And even more marketers do. But if you want a successful product launch, I recommend beginning and ending with great copywriting.
Copywriter Stephen Dean writes sales copy that demands champagne celebrations – specializing in health, wealth and product launch copy. He regularly reveals his secrets at his copywriting blog, http://www.CopywritingDean.com.

Are Your Headlines BORING People To Death
By Keith Everett
Ah Ha… you had to look at that headline and click through, didn’t you? – you see the POWER of a good headline?
Now, whether you think that it is a good headline of not… , you still wanted to PEEK, didn’t you? With great headlines, comes great power… you are simply MAGNETIZING the reader to your content…
I see painfully boring headlines every day which could easily replace Horlick’s before bedtime and send you to sleep PRONTO!, but with a few TWEEKS here and there, even these could be BRILLIANT headlines..
After all, it’s the headline that stops the reader DEAD.. it makes them read (or REJECT) your piece. So why do most people spend so little time on the most important thing – the HEADLINE?
Some obscure rules to writing headline busting HEADLINES! by a Dumb ASS Copywriter… yes, ME
Firstly, I’m NO Expert – but I have read a lot of Copywriting Books by famous copywriters in my time, John Carlton, Gary Halbert, Claude Hopkins, Robert Bly etc and I do practice writing a lot of headlines…
1) Leave them FLABBERGASTED… Your headline must hook the readers into the sub headline or copy by SUCKING their very eyes into the words, like Eyeball MAGNETS!
It’s no good PUSSY FOOTING around: your headline is your BEST chance of getting your stuff seen… mess this up and you are Freakin DEAD!…..
2) Statements & Questions:
Ask KILLER questions or hit them with HOW TO’s, people love How To’s… even though I’m not a PRO copywriter, I still have common sense, and common sense tells me that your “How To Be A Millionaire” headline is NOT going to win friends or influence ME…. NO, I need something BIG…much BIGGER!
I get to see ads all day, every day… You have to stand out from the CROWD… and it’s a big crowd.
“How an Internet Marketing Dumb ASS, Did Everything WRONG and still made – a MILLION BUCKS!” - (How To)
“Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About SEX – But Were Too Afraid To Ask!” – (Outrageous Statement)
“Who Will You Take With You, On Your Free – Yes FREE, Caribbean Holiday?” – (Killer Question)
Benefits…. this is what sells. There are too many average, boring headlines out there that just state the bloody obvious, features – not benefits.
Don’t sell the SAUSAGE, sell the SIZZLE!
OK, sometimes when I’m doing an instructional video on tidying up the desktop or I have a guest blogger that wants to keep his/her low key headline in then that’s ok as it makes sense NOT to have every single headline on your blog or website DYNAMIC, this way the really super, SUPER headlines will stand out in between the boring ones.
3) HUMOUR…
This always goes down a treat, be a bit WACKY!…. I have noticed, people share my posts a lot more if there is some humour in the headline..
here are some of my recent headlines where I inserted a touch of humour:
Slick or SICK… you decide?
“Yesterday, I Poked Myself In The Eye With A PEN”
“How to Be An Internet Marketing Smart ASS In 3 Simple Lessons”
“Affiliate Marketing – How to Screw It All Up In Just 3 Easy Lessons”
“Look For PAIN & You Will GAIN, Then Find A Starving Crowd & FEED It!”
“How A SICK Internet Marketer – Finally Broke Out Of Hospital”
“How to Become A Kindle eBook Publisher On Amazon – And Stick Two Fingers Up At Stephen King”
“How To Always Have Great Content For Your Website Or Blog – Even If Your Head Is A Content Free Zone”
“What’s Green & Slimey & Can Make You Money? – SQUIDOO!”
OK, so let’s sum up here.
1) Headlines in my view are the No1 thing we need to get right to get people to LOOK at what we have… we only have a second or so to get/keep their ATTENTION so make it count, to make your headline stand out you need to think of it as a headline to a text ad, amongst thousands of other ads on a page, What would you say to really STAND OUT….use attention grabbing words such as NEW, FREE, KILLER, WOW…. ATTENTION..
2) Desire – they have to really want to read on… the headline will cure or KILL it in SECONDS… make them curious, make them WANT to click though, show the BENEFITS briefly in the headline or TEASE them, give them a quick teaser… ”If you are the door, then I am the KEY – let’s unlock the PLEASURE!”…..
3) Appeal to a person’s FUNNY side, get Quirky, invoke curiosity with HUMOUR… don’t do this with every headline, you will OVERKILL it! but this definitely works
Lastly, we haven’t talked about Keywords yet… to get good rankings Keywords are VERY important in your headlines (and copy) BUT…. and it’s a big BUT.. don’t OVERDO it! the headline should not lose it PZAZZ! at the expense of Keywords,
Remember: A Keyword rich headline with no SPARK is a waste of time as people won’t read it anyway and therefore won’t read the copy… it’s better to have a good headline that gets attention, even if it hardly contains any keywords.. REMEMBER, the object at this stage is to be SEEN… once they are reading into your copy, then you can use more keywords.. but remember, at the end of the day, it has to make sense and be EASY to read.. don’t STUFF keywords into it Willy Nilly!
I hope you have enjoyed this piece on creating KILLER headlines, if you have, please do share or/and comment, it would be much appreciated

23 Things I Learned From A $250,000 Internet Marketing Education
Oct 29th
Today’s GOLDEN Nuggets come from our guest Blogger – Ricky Breslin
Who do you believe? Who do you trust, online and in life?
I want to share a story with you, something I hope can help you, as you move forward in business.
When I was 22 years old, I was in the Air Force and working Langley Air Force Base, at a place called MILSTAR (Military Satellite And Tactical Relay). It sounds complicated, and the job itself could be, but thank God all we did was play PlayStation on the 3 p.m. – 11 p.m. shift.
Because of the cake hours, that job became the birth of my online career. I had no clue what I was doing; I just knew that the Internet was the future, and I hated being in the Air Force.
So I started reading forums – particularly the SitePoint forum when I first got started. I was reading about 10-12 hours per day. I couldn’t stop. Merchant accounts, conversion, websites, HTML, blogging, e-books, etc. It just didn’t stop. My brain was on fire.
Then, in the beginning of 2004, my wife and I registered our first domain name, and it was game-on.
As I’m writing this in early, 2010, I’ve gone through all of my corporate tax returns and calculated that I’ve spent a little over $250,000 on my Internet education. This includes seminars, paid phone calls, mentorships, coaching, digital products, physical products, etc.
You’re probably asking the question, “Dude! Are you freakin’ serious?” Yup.
Most people think I’m crazy. And, at the end of the day, maybe I am.
But here’s the real reason I spent that much money on education: I always thought I was missing something. I always thought there was so much more I could learn. Basically I didn’t feel “qualified.” I thought I knew a lot, but not enough.
In 2005 I got sick from the stress. Back then I would have books about marketing, copywriting, and the Internet piled up by my side. I would read until my eyes hurt. I’d study until I fell asleep. Then, I’d wake up and do it all over again. And the sick part is, I always felt like I was so far behind…I felt like everybody was so far ahead of me, and it drove me even harder.
Insecure? Maybe. Not confident in my own abilities? Possibly. Serious about succeeding? Absolutely. If I knew then what I know now, would I still do it? No.
So, in 2007 I had a “moment of clarity.” I had just paid $800 to talk to a sales “guru” on the phone for an hour because I wanted to acquire a skill I didn’t have at the time.
After that disappointing phone call, I was very frustrated with the value delivered. I knew about 100 times more than the person I’d just spoken to, and I knew it in my heart. It was an important revelation for me personally. That call helped me prove to myself that I was “qualified.”
After all these calls, courses, and time, you’re probably asking what I learned.
Let me answer this question very bluntly. After $250,000 of Internet marketing education, consulting with CEO’s, doctors, marketing professionals, lawyers, and making a full-time living online myself, I offer the following advice…
1. You’re probably much smarter than you think. Most people have no idea what you know.
2. Wisdom has nothing to do with time. There are 85-year-old idiots. Time doesn’t make you smart; study, working hard, implementation, and experience do. Never be discouraged by age – yours or someone else’s.
3. There are more scam artists online than you think. Be skeptical – a lot of people are faking success online.
4. Be careful what you study when it comes to marketing, copywriting, conversion, etc. You can waste a lot of time on “information.” Know that action normally trumps education, but I highly recommend getting some education before you create an action plan. Most people go head-first into stuff they have no clue about it, and the action they do take is almost worthless.
5. Only build relationships with people of integrity. The majority of online marketers are willing to whore themselves out and be associated with anyone as long as it makes them money. I see this every day. Integrity is so important.
6. Be yourself. I think the biggest reason people fail online is because they aren’t doing what they truly love. Some people love the marketing process, like me, and that’s fine – do that. I personally could sell washers and dryers, I just love selling, design, conversion, building, creating, etc. Some people have to actually sell something they love, and those people should stick with that. You will never make it long-term in this business if you don’t wake up hungry, ready to make things happen.
7. You must distinguish between what matters and what doesn’t matter. Decisiveness is a quality you must develop. Think, then decide quickly. Time doesn’t create better decisions, unless the decision requires more information. If the decision doesn’t require more information, make the decision fast, be confident in your decision; then, move on and forget about it. Don’t worry if you made the wrong decision.
8. Learn to ask great questions. I recommend when you are speaking to anybody that you think of great questions and ask them. It shows humility, and you’d be surprised at how much people will open up to you. Be willing to learn. Labor for the right questions, and ask a lot of them.
9. Determine to live your life on deadlines. Most people don’t, but you must. When I start doing business with a new person, I always let them know how I do business, and they’re always surprised. I let them know that I put everything in my Outlook calendar with a deadline, and then forget about it. This does 3 things. First, it allows me to forget about the project, freeing my brain from more information. Second, it establishes my expectation of the person who’s working for me. And third, it allows me to figure out who is dependable.
10. Be teachable. I still read a lot. I do so to stay fresh and on top of my game. Don’t ever think you know it all. Continue to search for tactics and techniques that can help your business, but be more obsessed with implementing what you learn so you can test it for yourself.
11. If you’re going to follow someone’s teachings, make sure that they are making money with the same things they teach. This can be very hard; I’ve been through many “teachers” and spent a lot of wasted money, and most of the time I just keep coming back to the basics or a book from back in the day.
12. Build your “team” early. Find your graphic designer, webmaster, etc. early. Pay them what they ask, pay early or on time, and be faithful. These people will play a very important role in your success. I went through about 15 graphic designers before I found the person I’m with now. And I’m not afraid to send that person business either. Never be afraid to share the wealth.
13. Recognize your weaknesses. I am not skilled at webmaster-type work such as CSS, HTML, etc. It stresses me out and it frustrates me. But what would be even worse is if I tried to fight that weakness on a daily basis, tried to excel at something I’m not gifted at, and become even more stressed and unhappy doing that sort of thing. Recognize your weakness and outsource it.
14. When starting out, I recommend a 50% education vs. 50% action model. As you start becoming more successful online, I’d recommend moving to a 30% education vs. 70% action model.
15. Start to value testing. I recommend that you stick with A/B split testing. It’s so easy, and anybody can do it. You will probably get discouraged, as most do, if you start with multivariate testing, learning about different compressions and algorithms, etc. Just stick with A/B testing and do it consistently.
16. Become a person of extreme consistency. You win at this game by doing it every day. Don’t stop. Go, go, go, go, go. You’re looking for longevity in the game. When you do something and it works, the next thing you have to ask yourself is if you can outsource the task and scale it. If you can, write up a procedure or record a video so you can train someone to do it. But most people will work really hard for 2 to 3 weeks and get burned out. Don’t let this be you. It’s all about consistency, day in and day out.
17. Understand that making money online is a learned skill, nobody is born with it. I know people who are stumbling and fumbling all over the place, bringing in a few million bucks online. Frankly, they are not that great as marketers, copywriters, or tech people. They just execute on the basics, day-in and day-out, and work hard.
18. Pick an Internet business model you’re comfortable with and do it. Don’t try to be a “guru” if you’re an introvert. Don’t create your own products if what you really want to be an affiliate. Don’t worry about what other people say is the best model. There is no “best” model. The best model is the model that lines up with the type of life you want to create for yourself. I personally think one of the better models is creating your own products because you have full control of every part of the sales process.
19. Commit to execute daily on the basics. Most people are into tricks and schemes. Sure, tricks and schemes can and do work, but while you’re executing the tips and tricks, never neglect the basics, and make sure to hammer on them almost daily.
20. Think of your online business as a constant work-in-progress. Understand that you’re never “there.” Once you think you get “there,” there will be something else you want achieve and do, and it will feel like you’re starting all over again. Embrace the process.
21. Commit to learn about design. It doesn’t take long – read a few books, learn about typography, etc. Your design affects your conversion, which affects your bank account. Don’t neglect the importance of design. You don’t have to be an expert, but do try to understand it.
22. Spend more time researching your competition. You can reverse engineer your competion when it comes to selling processes, link building, etc. Spend more time on this, and you’ll never go wrong.
23. Find people who have achieved what you want to achieve, and be humble enough to search them out and talk to them. Make sure they are making money outside of “coaching”. If they say they are in a lot of different markets, don’t believe them, make them show you a few to verify. Most coaches don’t make money in real businesses, their business is coaching. I try to avoid that type of coach.
I could keep typing a lot more of these lessons learned and words of advice, but I want to keep this blog post to under 2,000 words and it’s getting a bit long winded :-).
Hopefully you got something from this blog and enjoyed it. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

How to Make $40 An Hour As An Article Ghost Writer
Oct 8th
How would you like to earn $40 an hour working from home as an article Ghostwriter?
What exactly is a Ghostwriter?
It’s a person who writes articles or books for people who don’t have the time or inclination to do it for themselves.
Hence the person you Ghost write for, will publish the content under their own name as if they were the original author.
How can we get involved and what’s in it for us.?
If you are anything like me, you probably stumbled into article marketing, as you felt it was the “THING TO DO” as an Internet Marketer.
Well, I still believe it is the thing to do, but it is a fairly slow way of producing traffic.
It is said, that within every person – is a book, just waiting to get out.
Instead of waiting for the book to come out, in the short term I would rather make a nice income Ghostwriting for others.
This can only enhance our early Internet Marketing careers by not only building a reputation as a writer of some note, but by also making ourselves an in – demand writer of quality content.
Now notice, I said Quality…
The better you can write, the more in demand you become, as your content will hook the reader to explore the whole article, thus giving them a sense of value.
Once a reader experiences this value, they will look favourably upon any offer being made within the article, thus increasing the click rate to the offer.
Becoming a Ghost writer, writing for other Internet Marketers, can SERIOUSLY increase your income, and set you up with both a great reputation for providing quality content, plus a much needed regular income.
What about pricing ?
This figure will largely depend on
a) What you see as a reasonable hourly income for yourself
b) How FAST you can write an article
c) What the market will pay for a GOOD article.
Now, I know you can outsource article writing to the Far East, and probably find someone on Fiverr to construct a half decent article for $5. However, the only way I would personally sell an article for $5, is if I sold it many times over.
Yes you can make money writing articles this way, also you can add them to a PLR site that sells packs of articles on various HOT Niches.
What Is PLR?
PLR – or Private Label Rights products are generally a product constructed for other people to re-brand themselves and to sell as their own product, i.e ebooks. PLR sites are sites that sell this content to the public and this content can be in the form of article packs or ebooks. It may of course also be video products. you could actually put up a PLR site yourself and do this.
Purchase PLR content or construct it yourself then sell it from your website. Once you build a reputation for selling quality items, you will probably get very busy as there are lots of people in the World today who want quality content, but do not necessarily have the time do it themselves.
SO, you’re NOT a dab hand at writing articles YET? At first – most people aren’t. Very few people are natural article writers. When I first started writing articles, It would take me hours, just to write a 500 word article, now with practice, I can write a good article in about half an hour or less.. To be a good article writer, especially at speed, requires skill – but like all skills, it can be learned.
To be a top quality ghostwriter is going to take practice. Offer up your content for free at first, by offering to be a guest blogger.
This means you look at other peoples blogs and see exactly what it is they are writing about. Choose someone who is offering content in a similar niche to your expertise, then offer to write an article as a quality blog post for them for free…some will say no, some will say yes..
I’m always looking for quality articles on Making Money for my blog…
If your article is good, people will comment on it, thus bringing extra traffic & interest to that blog. Once you have built up a bit of a reputation, approach one or two,
up and coming marketers to write for. Once they have published some of your articles, you can then feel confident enough about promoting your service to some higher profile marketers – in exchange for dollars of course… does this make sense?
Once your business grows, you can charge more than $40 an hour to write content for people. Some people who operate in a similar way to this have more than doubled this figure..

Have a good day
